BALD EAGLE NEST AT PARROTS FERRY

Bald eagles are not as rare as they once were. This bald eagle nest is the first I've seen close enough to photograph with a tiny digital. An exciting treat. Please click on these photos for a better view. Dad, or mom flew off and sat in a dead spar keeping a close watch on the hatchlings. They never stray far from the nest. I know little about bald eagles, except that people from all over have come to see the nest over the last three weeks. It sits near Mellones Reservoir adjacent to the Parrots Ferry Bridge. The best view is the pull out on the Tuolumne County side of the Parrots Ferry. Then walk back toward Calaveras County for a couple hundred yards for a closer view. Watch for traffic and enjoy and photograph this special event.
